Best case - you'll lose some men in the coming battles an the upkeep will reduce. If you're taking on a mission to escort someone, resolve a dispute, or take out bandits, be sure to bulk up on recruits, even if the upkeep is a lot. It's better to over-prepare than under-prepare.Once you start fighting other factions, expect them to use plenty of tactical maneuvers on you!.

Once you get the hang of things, try practicing maneuvers against opponents you know you can beat to see how to position your infantry and archers, while having cavalry follow you on flanking runs. Tactical commands can be daunting for new players - but don't worry, bandits don't have tactics either, they'll always charge straight at you.Cut your teeth on small bandit parties until you're ready to join a faction, and then follow them into war against other teams. The same with Dubh Linn as I was spying on it before I became a vassal (I got sieged by a Norwegian and tried everything before and swore fealthy to protect my holdings) and in the end every week another kingdom (always the same) was sieging it and then just broke the siege for no reason. Now I was thinking, the castle would immidiatly be taken back only to be surprised that the enemy didn't capture it. Now immidiatly after he left about 600-1000 men of the enemy came to the castle. One time I conquered a castle with the mashall and after capturing it we got an invitation to a feast and he just rode of, with about 20-40 men guarding it.
I looked elsewhere and most castles which got taken at any time seem to have the same issue. Dubh Linn was taken by a neighbour for a month now and still there are only about 60-80 men garrisoning it. The battles in VC are a pain and boring for me.Īny faction in general. I have to spend so much time preparing a formation before the enemy reaches me and it's just a waste of time. It's a gimmick I didn't ask for and is completely useless as it makes me just more disorganized. Okey, why do they stand 10 meters behind where I clicked, and why are they in two lines divided by troop type? It wasn't in vanilla warband, why can't I just put them all in one line and manually make multiple if I want to? I click spearmen to place them in a spot on the tactical map. Please, spawn me outside so I can set up and prepare my troops. I gave up on the DLC the first battle I had with a small army, because they spawned in a gigantic, unorganized fucking moshpit inside a town I wanted to defend against bandits.
